Yes.. the safe one… No, not North… Yes, I’ll be sure to stay away from the DMZ…
Let me back up a bit…. In Spring 2019, I obtained my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certification, while working full time. I decided to give myself a 6 month end date for my employment, and focus on applying and obtaining an overseas English teaching job. During the Spring and Summer, I sold my house in Raleigh (thanks to loads of support and patience from family and friends). After over-researching various countries, positions, benefits, pros and cons, I decided EPIK (English Program in Korea) was a great start. So I applied in August.
Using a cousin’s New York wedding as my mental stopwatch, I ended my job in early October, knowing I would want to travel to see friends and family, and explore some places I’ve never before visited, with a clear mind. After 2 months of nervous waiting and checking my email too often, I was scheduled for an interview, just after the October wedding. I had the interview while visiting a friend in Montreal, and was informed only 24 hours later that I was accepted into the program and would be hearing about placement! October, November, and December were a whirlwind of family and friends as I further traveled to Canada, Washington, Texas, Colorado, Michigan, and finally returned to our family farm in North Carolina. On December 29, I was informed I will be placed in Daegu, Korea.
On February 11th, I fly to Seoul, South Korea, and will stay a few days with my freshman suitemate Hyunha and her family, prior to EPIK orientation starting the 19th. I look forward to exploring and gathering experiences to share with you!

Whirlwind adventures leave you breathless! And, are always worth the ride!
You worked hard to get this far. I know you will successfully follow this dream.
Proud of you…
